Irish Week Memories
- (Fr.) Mike Petroski - Class of 1965
I'm not sure when Irish Week began, but I can recall the Spring Drive that happened every March and April, to raise funds for the gym that eventually would be named for the late coach, Mr. Tom Kelly. Each ND student would receive an allotted bunch of raffle tickets, then blanket the neighborhoods selling them. Many of us guys logged many miles each day and week! Each homeroom got into the act, with rivalries that became legendary as to which homeroom got the prize for highest number of tickets sold. Fr. Rancourt was brutally competitive, but those guys usually came out on top. As they say, it was all in fun and for a good cause. My class, 1965, was the 1st one to graduate from the new gym. My last time in ND's gym was to concelebrate the 50th anniversary Mass in October of 2004. Who could have known that it would be the last opportunity to reunite there with fellow alumni? I'm now left with a bittersweet memory. Thank you for facilitating Randy's reflections and memories. You are still in my prayers. Peace, (Fr.) Mike Petroski, '65

Mike Reece - Class of 1979
- Thank you, one and all, for keeping the tradition alive!
I applaud your efforts and look to be more involved. These past few months have been very busy attempting to become acclimated to my new surroundings at O.L. Victory in Northville. With a new job and a new baby on July 26, my attention was focused on survival. I miss the N.D. community more than I can express and thank each and every one of you for all you have done for Notre Dame. It has been difficult to move beyond the events of March 2005 and the months that followed. The metro Detroit area needs a Notre Dame High School and I hope all those near and far who believe in Notre Dame will again unite in the true spirit of Our Lady. God bless all of you. Thank you, Tim, Jim, Debbie and all of you for your dedication. Thank you for the article, Debbie. Very well done! I hope I can be of some assistance. Mike Reece '79
